I guess when you’re motivated there’s no controlling it so why bother trying right? I love smoothies and for some reason I fell into a rut where the blender just sat in the corner of my counter and gathered dust. Last weekend I watched a food photography workshop and started to really think about light in a new way. With the new camera in hand today I couldn’t help myself so I documented my smoothie making and focused on where the light was coming from, how that effected the image, the food, and the overall conveyed feeling. I also experimented with light, dark, and more textures. With all this swimming through my head, I can tell a trip to Goodwill is on the table for tomorrow for some fun plating/styling materials. I got the recipe from Oh My Veggies and tweaked based on what I found at the store and had in my kitchen. I used 1 orange, 3/4 cup of almond milk, honey (if you’re a Seattleite, check out local honey-maker Ballard Bee Company!), a cup of frozen mango and added cayenne to taste. It’s so refreshing and I love the kick. And on an unrelated note, I think I’m falling in love with this camera.
