Pineda-Shadid Family – Kubota Gardens

Family

Meet the Pineda family!!  We had a beautiful Thanksgiving weekend shoot that included not only mom, dad, and the kids but also uncle and grandparents. Pretty special to have everyone together.  We were right on the cusp of a huge rain storm but we decided to give it a go.  Our original plan was to go to Seward Park and spend a bit of time on Lake Washington.  I can’t believe I had never been there before!  Well, thanks to the Seattle Marathon my dreams of shooting there remain in the mix.  With a heads up from Dini, I learned that the roads would be closed well through our shoot time.  She was quick with a backup and off to the Kuboda Garden we went.  Another place I have never shot at!  It’s a total hidden gem in South Seattle.  All seemed to be working out and then as soon as we began to photograph, the rain came…and then left…and then came back more intensely than before.  We played this little game throughout our entire shoot but it didn’t stop anyone from posing, goofing off, and exploring.  It was so sweet to spend some time with them.  We played with bubbles and had red velvet iced cookies.  Little Norah was a big fan of the bubbles. Some of my faves from the day were from a little group shot with her reacting to the bubbles.  The moment of the day for me though, was from 4 year old Antonio.  His grandma was opening up a map to guide us to a waterfall in the garden and he exclaimed “maps only work when you already know where you are.”  If that isn’t a metaphor for life, I don’t know what is. Got a little philosopher on our hands.
