Earlier this year I had the chance to create a series of Santa Barbara artist portraits for painter Wendy Fisher. The session was part of her new website project, and it gave us the chance to showcase both her creative process and her personality.
We began in Wendy’s studio, focusing on an authentic lifestyle approach that captured her at work in her creative space. These environmental portraits highlighted the tools, textures, and atmosphere that shape her art.
From there we stepped outside to take advantage of the Central California light. Her patio, lined with flowers and botanicals, was the perfect backdrop for headshots that reflected her warmth and vibrancy. The mix of studio and outdoor portraits offered a well-rounded view of Wendy as both an artist and an individual.
Wendy is embarking on an exciting career shift, moving from the pet-sitting company she ran for more than two decades into a life of painting. Documenting this transition felt truly special. Her enthusiasm, her creative passion, and even the joyful appearance of her pup all came through in the images. These portraits mark a moment of growth and transformation that I feel lucky to have captured.
