Whether you’ve wandered the streets of Paris or dreamed of doing so, the Oh La La playlist invites you to settle in at a café table, book in hand. It’s filled with songs that have stood the test of time, reflecting an iconic city and culture all its own. You’ll also hear a few tracks that capture a more modern French sensibility, and others that simply set a distinctly Parisian mood.

From Édith Piaf and Charles Trenet to Carla Bruni, Melody Gardot, and Pink Martini, Oh La La brings together a mix of timeless voices and modern takes on the unmistakable Parisian style. In practice, you can experience that flair in how people dress and converse, and you see it everywhere. It’s in the architecture, the food, the art, and the magical light that makes everything glow.

Paris has always held a special place in my heart. I’ve been lucky enough to visit a few times, and every trip has left me completely spellbound. It’s the kind of city that reminds you to stop and smell the roses, literally. All you need to do is take a look down an alley, pause to admire the etching on a bar glass, or notice the way the light hits the rooftops.

Like so many of us, I’ve also been enchanted by the energy of Paris through film, both American and French. Amélie, An American in Paris, and Mood Indigo to name a few. As I built this playlist, I couldn’t help but think of a line from the remake of Sabrina that I used to quote with my dear friend Eric:
“I sat in a café, I drank coffee, and I wrote nonsense in a journal. And then, somehow, it was not nonsense. I went for long walks… and I met myself in Paris.”
That line has always stayed with me. Not in an Emily in Paris kind of way (though that show has its charms, lol), but because this city always seems to spark another layer of creativity for me.
I think that’s exactly what Paris invites you to do, meet yourself in a new way. So this one’s for Eric, and for anyone who finds beauty in the small, sparkling details of life.
Put on your beret, pour a glass of something bubbly, and settle into a Paris café mood. Maybe even take it with you for a little stroll.
