Every once in a while, a project comes along that feels like pure joy. This Lauren Ko Pieometry photoshoot for Anthropologie was one of those moments. Lauren, known to many as @Lokokitchen, creates pies that are as stunning as they are clever, pairing intricate designs with witty puns. With the release of her first book Pieometry, Anthropologie asked me to spend an afternoon photographing Lauren at home with their products for their blog and social channels. It was such a treat, no pun intended (ok, definitely intended).
The session took place in Lauren’s home kitchen, where the smell of fresh fruit and pastry set the scene. Food photography is one of my favorite things to do, and watching Lauren at work was inspiring. She sliced pears with care, layered them into geometric patterns, and brought each tart to life with her signature precision. I wanted the photos to show not just the final creations, but the artistry of her process.
What made this session even more special is that Lauren is also a friend. Fun fact: I had the honor of shooting her author photo for Pieometry before this project. That connection made it especially meaningful to see her work celebrated in such a big way. We moved between close-up details of the pies and wider shots that captured Lauren in her creative space.
This shoot was everything I love about storytelling through images and truly, Lauren is the best y’all. This session celebrated a talented artist at an exciting moment in her career, mixing food, creativity, and personality all in one. May these images inspire you to check out her book, fire up your oven, and bake something beautiful.
