Lake Washington is the second largest natural lake in Washington, stretching more than 20 miles from north to south. In the summertime, it comes alive with swimmers, sunbathers, and boaters soaking in every drop of sunshine.
Against this backdrop, I was lucky to be asked to photograph the Como restaurant opening celebration at Carillon Point in Kirkland. The team behind Como had the brilliant idea to pair their waterfront patio with a classic boat that can taxi you straight to dinner. Truly, brilliant with a capital B.
The evening felt like a summer party on the Italian coast, only right here on Lake Washington. Guests gathered on the patio to toast the new restaurant. I moved between portraits of the welcoming staff and moments of friends enjoying the views.
Italian-inspired dishes made the rounds: a refreshing melon and mozzarella salad, wood-fired pizzas, and handmade pastas. Every detail felt carefully chosen, from the pasta room to the stunning bar. My camera loved it all.
What sets Como apart is their boat. We set out on Lake Washington to capture an excursion that highlighted this unique offering.
Imagine arriving at dinner by water. You cruise across the lake as the sun lowers, then step onto the dock where a glass of wine is waiting. Photographing this part of the story felt unforgettable. It was the perfect blend of Northwest beauty and Italian lifestyle inspiration.
Como restaurant brings together delicious food, thoughtful design, and the magic of Lake Washington in a way that feels both elevated and inviting. Whether you come for the pasta room, the beautiful bar, or the one-of-a-kind boat ride, it is a restaurant that leaves a lasting impression.
Photographing the Como restaurant opening celebration was a blast, and I am excited to share a glimpse into their story.
