Portland is known for delicious food.  On this most recent trip down to the Rose City I paid special attention to the details in the eateries themselves.  It has always been an interest of mine and lately, I’m beginning to see it developing into a passion.  23Hoyt sits in the NW area of the city on 23rd (makes sense I guess).  Upon entering I was first struck by the balance of outdoor/indoor consuming each corner.  If I could pinpoint a favorite aesthetic, it would be somewhere in this zone.  Cozy wood and log cabin decorative touches sat next to huge trees enveloping the entry way and tiny plants gracing each table.  On the walls, eclectic artwork.  The finishes were modern and clean but the overall ambiance was warm like someone’s (very nice) living/dining room.  I hope to visit again, if only to chat with the friendly staff again and enjoy the biscuits and bourbon gravy once more.
